TWIN PEAKS

TWIN PEAKS

Twin Peaks Design – Kourosh Rafiee

This project exemplify a city in smaller scale. Unlike conventional townships where buildings are scattered across the site and the remaining space is left unutilized and formless, this project positions the towers in such a way that creates an enclosed open space between them. This central courtyard, with pedestrian paths, cycling tracks, gathering spaces, and various sports and recreational facilities along its edges, caters to the welfare and service needs of the tower residents.

To prevent the project from casting shadows on the eastern neighbors and to establish a suitable connection with the existing park to the north of the site, the towers are located in the southern and western parts of the land. This placement ensures unobstructed views for all units. The height of the 22-story towers is broken at different levels to achieve a more human scale and better integrate with the surrounding environment. The levels of these breaks are derived from two distinct lines in the project’s urban landscape: one from the height of the surrounding residential buildings and the other from the skyline of the Alborz mountains. Additionally, to prevent unwanted light from entering the towers, the residential units are oriented towards optimal light. This orientation has created large triangular terraces for each residential unit.

Ultimately, the division and rotation of the towers in height, and the resulting voids and solid spaces on the exterior of the blocks, reflect the existing residential texture of the neighborhood and transform the towers into a landmark form in the urban landscape of the area.
